The 29th anniversary of Kabah Park, a protected natural area in Quintana Roo, was recently celebrated. The event was a joint effort by the State Government, the Secretary of Ecology and Environment (SEMA), the Institute of Biodiversity and Protected Natural Areas (IBANQROO), and the Benito Juarez Municipality.
The celebration was part of a broader initiative to improve living conditions for the people of Quintana Roo. This aligns with the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo. Benito Moran Bañuelos, the Under Secretary of Environmental Management and Protection of SEMA, represented Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa at the event.
"Kabah Park is not only a State Protected Natural Area, but also a symbol of our commitment to conserving nature. It serves as a sanctuary for our state's biodiversity and is a testament to our love and dedication to preserving the environment," said Moran.
Ana Paty Peralta, the municipal president of Benito Juarez, and the Under Secretary of SEMA, unveiled a sign denoting the "Top 5 Ecological Parks". These include Ombligo Verde, Equity Park, Cancun Park, Malecón Tajamar, and Kabah Park.
Javier Carballar Osorio, the general director of IBANQROO, noted that Quintana Roo is one of only four states in Mexico with a State Committee for the Conservation of Biodiversity. This committee is responsible for protecting natural areas and local wildlife.
The event was attended by state and municipal authorities, civil associations, students, and local residents.
