Danna Felisa Ramírez Saldaña was sworn in as the tenth councilor of the Solidaridad municipality on Friday, replacing Kira Iris San. San was removed from her council position due to a judicial resolution, having initially secured her place through legal maneuvering.
On Friday afternoon, the Solidaridad Cabildo held its third extraordinary session to implement the ruling by the Electoral Tribunal of Quintana Roo (Teqroo). This ruling removed San from her council position. Ramírez Saldaña, the current president of the PAN, was then sworn in and immediately assumed her role as the tenth councilor of Solidaridad. The city hall is currently headed by Estefanía Mercado Asencio.
San, who had gained a reputation for arrogance during her public service under former Mayor Roxana Lili, is now definitively out. The former municipal representative resigned from the tenth councilor position following a significant defeat on June 2. She reportedly did not want to face reality and be subordinate to Mercado, whom she had undermined during the campaign using reporters paid with public funds.
San had initially taken the position as Roxana Lili's deputy on the losing PAN slate. However, the Teqroo ruled that the vacancy belonged to Ramírez Saldaña, as she had superior political-electoral rights.
Despite San's claims that she will contest the decision and her apparent support from numerous bots on social networks, it seems she is merely attempting to confuse public opinion by citing legal precedents that do not apply to her case.
San, who only recently entered politics, transitioned from a lawyer representing wealthy individuals to a political figure seeking the support of Playa del Carmen residents. However, she never received a majority vote in any election she participated in. San is perhaps best remembered as the lawyer who defended the administration of Playacar phase 1, a high-value area that sought to restrict public access to the beach in that part of the city.
