A driver was severely injured after losing control of his BMW and crashing in the Hotel Zone. The incident occurred around 7:30 in the morning near kilometer 3.5, on the lane leading to Cancun International Airport.
Eyewitness accounts suggest the driver may have failed to account for road conditions, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The car first hit the central road divider before finally colliding with a palm tree.
The force of the impact left the driver trapped inside the mangled wreckage of his car. Members of the Fire Department and Civil Protection had to extract him from the vehicle.
The driver sustained numerous injuries across his body, necessitating immediate transport to the IMSS hospital in Region 510.
Following the accident, police officers cordoned off the area and managed the ensuing traffic on Kukulcán Boulevard. The damaged vehicle was eventually towed to a city impound lot.
