“Sargassum-Free Beaches Await at Mahahual for a Safe Summer!”

Mahahual is eagerly anticipating the upcoming summer vacation season. The area's pristine beaches are sargassum-free and tourist safety is assured. Rodolfo Espadas, Vice President of the Association of Tourist Entrepreneurs of the Costa Maya, highlighted that the anti-sargassum barriers are in place and the algae situation is under control.

"We can confidently say that our beaches are among the cleanest in the state. This will be a major draw for visitors who come to the Costa Maya seeking beautiful beaches, warm sand, and crystal-clear waters," Espadas stated. He credited the coordinated efforts of tourist service providers and federal authorities, including the Secretary of the Navy, for successfully managing the sargassum situation in time for the tourist season.

Espadas also addressed safety concerns, stating that while a police presence is necessary for preventative measures, the area is safe for tourists. "To date, there have been no reported incidents or aggressions involving visitors. We can confidently say that Mahahual is a safe destination," he declared.

It's worth noting that recent 911 reports have highlighted Mahahual as one of the safest areas in the Othón P. Blanco region. The area has seen a 32% decrease in common crimes such as theft and assault compared to the same period in 2023.

Furthermore, Mahahual is one of the safest destinations for tourists. In the last two years, the Prosecutor's Office has received only four complaints from tourists visiting Mahahual, compared to 72 in Playa del Carmen and 209 in Cancun. There have been no reported aggressions against visitors in the Costa Maya, maintaining a clear record over the past holiday seasons.
