Warning: Quintana Roo Businesses at Risk of Fines without COFEPRIS Notice

The majority of businesses in Quintana Roo do not have an operating notice from the Federal Commission for Protection Against Health Risks (COFEPRIS). This omission could lead to substantial fines, the amount of which would depend on the industry.

This information was shared by Jaime Torres Viveros, the director of COFEPRIS in Quintana Roo, during a recent public hearing in Cobá. Viveros explained that through the correct procedure, businesses can acquire a health license. This license is free of charge and can be obtained digitally.

Viveros warned that businesses without an operating notice should apply for one to avoid potential fines. He also mentioned that health inspections are conducted daily across various sectors including goods and services, food and beverage, pharmacies, and hotels. During these inspections, they encounter a range of issues on a daily basis.

In terms of the services provided during the public hearing, Viveros reported that the most sought-after procedure was the health card for food handlers.
