A shocking incident unfolded on Paseo de Montejo, Mérida, on the 1st of September. An elderly man was spotted stealing grass from the avenue in broad daylight. A local resident, Ángel Cab, was walking his dogs when he noticed the man's actions and decided to confront him.

The confrontation escalated when the thief, now referred to as "lord grass," became enraged and attempted to attack Ángel. However, he failed to land a hit and instead fell over. This seemed to infuriate the man further, prompting him to get into his truck and chase after Ángel, attempting to run him and his dogs over.

Bystanders at the scene began to shout, drawing the attention of a unit from the Yucatán Public Security Secretariat (SSP Yucatán). Despite their arrival, the aggressive man managed to escape before he could be apprehended.

Ángel Cab later posted a video on his Facebook account, detailing the incident and stating that he had filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office of Yucatán. Viral videos of the event show the elderly man attempting to assault Ángel and his dogs, despite the presence of families and children at the scene.

Public outcry has been significant, with many demanding that Mérida authorities bring the man to justice. Some have criticized the Yucatán SSP for failing to arrest the man at the scene, leading to speculation that he may be a person of influence within Yucatecan society.
