In a harrowing incident in Playa del Carmen, a man narrowly escaped death thanks to the quick thinking of his brother. The man was found in his room in the Villas del Sol neighborhood, hanging by the neck from a rope. His brother swiftly intervened, cutting the makeshift noose with a knife.

The incident, which occurred around 11:30 PM on Alondras Avenue at the intersection with Cotorras Street, involved a 37-year-old man. He was still alive when his brother found him hanging from the rope.

At the time of the suicide attempt, the man's romantic partner was also present in the house. She quickly dialed the emergency number 911, leading to the arrival of a Civil Protection ambulance at the scene.

Following the rescue, the Municipal Police spoke with the individuals who discovered Benito. Fortunately, they were able to intervene in time to save his life.

This incident marks one of at least nine recorded suicide attempts in Playa del Carmen during the month of March.
