Residents of the Paseos del Mar subdivision in Region 251, Playa Del Carmen, made a gruesome discovery this morning. At approximately 7:30 AM, they found three bags containing a dismembered body, which prompted an immediate police response.
The residents quickly alerted the authorities by dialing the emergency number 911. Officers from the Ministry of Citizen Security were the first to arrive at the scene on Isla Mujeres Street. They confirmed that the bags indeed contained human remains.
Preliminary information suggests that the three bags held the head, torso, and clothing of a male victim, likely aged between 25 and 30. The area was promptly cordoned off by municipal police who called for federal forces' assistance to secure the scene.
Subsequently, homicide detectives and forensic experts arrived to commence their investigation. The human remains were then transported to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) facilities for further examination. The identity of the victim remains unknown.
