Quintana Roo's Governor, Mara Lezama, recently visited Puerto Aventuras to address the concerns of the local community. She was joined by Veronica Lezama Espinosa, the honorary president of the DIF System Quintana Roo, and several secretaries.
Lezama explained that these public hearings, along with the weekly program 'The Voice of the People,' provide an opportunity to receive feedback from the community. "We are here to patiently serve and meet the needs of the people, with the support of both national and municipal government," she said.
During her visit, Lezama, accompanied by municipal president Estefanía Mercado, took the time to personally meet with individuals and listen to their concerns. One of the first to receive assistance was Natalia Felipe Juan, who requested a covered dining area for the Eulalia Guzmán kindergarten. Lezama assured her that they would help with this project.
Leticia Marcelina Sánchez, who requires a pension and medication, was assisted by the delegate of Welfare, as well as SESA and IMSS for her medications. Dylan, a young man in need of a heart operation and a cochlear implant, was attended to by the State DIF and SESA. "We will take the necessary actions to assist him," Lezama declared.
David Navarrete, a diabetic, requested help from the State DIF to obtain a prosthesis. Both Lezama and Espinosa agreed to deliver it the following week. José Raúl Pérez Salas also required a prosthesis and was attended to by the DIF Quintana Roo. His appointment for diagnosis is scheduled for April 10, with necessary measures to be taken on April 28.
Aylin Tec, a boxing athlete, requested a mask and gloves for training, while Christian, an aspiring football player, was provided with footballs. Both athletes are from Puerto Aventuras.
During the public hearing, Lezama distributed sewing machines to a group of women, aiming to help generate income and improve their family's financial situation. Other items distributed included water tanks, zinc sheets, welfare supports, scaffolds, and wheelchairs, all managed by the DIF Quintana Roo.
Additionally, families received attention from the Health Caravan, with vaccines administered to children and the elderly. Citizens also received guidance on procedures at the Prosecutor's Office, SEQ and AGEPRO. In total, 1,071 services were provided during the hearing, including 489 social supports, 107 legal and 107 general services. Of these, 645 were provided to women and 426 to men.
