The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) has reported the arrest of Martín Caro Monge. Known as "El M", Caro Monge is the son of José Gil "El Pelo Chino" Caro Quintero and the nephew of Rafael Caro Quintero. Both Caro Monge and his father are believed to be significant contributors to violence in the southern area of Quintana Roo, as well as in Campeche, Tabasco, Chiapas, Veracruz, Guerrero, and Sonora.
According to the SSPC, Caro Monge was apprehended during a security operation aimed at locating fentanyl laboratories in the region. This operation took place on January 13 in the town of Pinotepa Nacional, in the state of Oaxaca. Caro Monge is also suspected of being a key figure in the smuggling of cocaine and fentanyl into the United States, alongside the Arreolas, the Russian Cartel, the Maríns, and the Martínezes.
Furthermore, a police report has linked Caro Monge to the disappearance of several women in the Oaxaca region. He is alleged to have kidnapped, assaulted, and killed these individuals.
