“Insider Look: Maya Train Half Empty Amid Construction Rush”

The Maya Train, primarily used by those experiencing train travel for the first time or those reminiscing about past journeys, is still under construction. This flagship project of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is set to complete 85 days from now.

The train service resumed recently after being temporarily halted due to Hurricane Beryl. However, the turnout has been moderate. Out of 200 available seats, only 100 were occupied, as reported by the staff at the Playa del Carmen station.

The current state of the Puerto Morelos station is far from ideal. Visitors are greeted by vacant premises, non-operational escalators, and ongoing construction work. Only two passengers boarded at this station, one of them named Pedro.
