Mayan community representatives in Yucatán have called for federal authorities to uphold their commitments made in a recent meeting. Leidy Eloína Cocom Valencia, a member of the Santa Gertrudis Copó Protector Council, emphasized the importance of open dialogue and the commitments made by Profepa, a federal environmental protection agency.

Federico May Cuitún from Kinchil has spoken out against several illegal real estate developments. Meanwhile, Jorge Yam Ek has expressed concerns over the transfer of beaches and dunes to politicians and businessmen.

Gregoria del Rosario Dzul Cua has announced plans to file a complaint against real estate companies accused of encroaching on and deforesting wilderness areas. Wilberth Nahuat Puc has called for action against pig farms that are polluting the air, water, and soil, criticizing the lack of intervention by state and municipal authorities.

The communities have also voiced their opposition to private energy mega-projects promoted by the state government, labeling them as exclusive and unsustainable development models.
