Mayor Estefania Mercado has kicked off her 15-project public works program in Puerto Aventuras. The first initiative, the Civic Plaza, represents an investment of over 10 million pesos and is set to directly benefit more than 23,000 residents.

"Today, we are fulfilling our promise to ensure Puerto Aventuras is more than just a decorative county," said Mercado, the municipal president of Solidaridad. She was joined by Mayor Gilberto Gómez Martínez at the launch event.

The Civic Plaza is a reflection of the government's commitment to ensuring prosperity for all residents of Solidaridad. The new public space will provide a gathering place for families, a play area for children, and a hub for community peace-building efforts.

"This is more than just a project, it's the first step in a comprehensive transformation," Mercado said. "We incorporated this proposal from the Transformation Dialogues because we believe that the voice of the people should drive our government."

The project, the first of many planned for Puerto Aventuras, will feature universal accessibility, benches, a multifunctional stage, green spaces, a flagpole, a children's play area, and a space for local traders.

"In this government, we believe in shared prosperity, where each public space becomes a place of meeting, well-being, and dignity for all," Mercado added.

Mayor Gilberto Gómez expressed his gratitude to President Mercado on behalf of the county's residents. "With her, there are no empty promises, only realities. This project will bring dignity to our residents, providing a beautiful civic plaza where the families of Puerto Aventuras can thrive," he said.

The launch event was attended by local families, council members, and cabinet members. During the event, Mercado appointed Doris Aké Sierra and Edgar Zapata Buenfil as Secretary and Undersecretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, respectively. Hugo Patricio Moreno was named Director of Tendering and Contracts, and Rafael Enrique Canto Lizama was appointed Director of Control and Monitoring of Works.

Mercado has previously announced plans to launch 15 public works projects within the first hundred days of her administration. These projects represent an investment of 900 million pesos, with 100 million pesos allocated for sports-related initiatives.
