Tulum's escalating insecurity was highlighted once again after a robbery took place near the Boxito store, situated on Tulum Boulevard. The incident unfolded when a woman, having just withdrawn 130,000 pesos from a local bank, was accosted by an armed individual as she exited her vehicle.
The assailant, reportedly wearing a helmet, brandished a firearm at the victim and stole a purse containing the withdrawn money. Despite the nearby presence of a Public Safety booth, previously criticized for its involvement in motorist extortions, the authorities' response was delayed. This delay allowed the criminals to evade capture.
