“Mérida on Sunday” Returns to Plaza Grande with Exciting Changes

The popular event "Mérida on Sunday" is set to return to its original location, Plaza Grande, this Sunday, following a series of meetings between Mérida's Mayor, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, and the event's vendors. The event had been temporarily relocated to Santa Ana's market for several months.

Patrón Laviada has reached agreements with the vendors about the move back to Plaza Grande. "We have agreed that on September 29, the vendors and artisans will return to the square. The food vendors will follow on October 6. We are making all necessary adjustments to provide better service, including oil traps and garbage collection. We aim to offer a better service to the people of Mérida while also taking care of our Plaza Grande," she said.

In the new arrangement at Plaza Grande, some vendors will be located within the public space, while others will be assigned to different nearby streets. "The food vendors will all be on 63rd street. They will not be distributed but will be in one single area. We will work with Servilimpia for garbage collection, installing containers and collecting garbage three or four times a day," Patrón Laviada explained.

Following the "Mérida on Sunday" event, the space will be used for the inaugural session of the State Congress, marking the inauguration of Joaquín Díaz Mena as the governor of Yucatán.
