Mexican Navy personnel have successfully recovered a package, suspected to contain marijuana, on the beaches of Puerto Morelos. The package, weighing approximately half a kilogram, was found during a routine patrol of the coastline.

The discovery was made after the Navy received a tip-off from a local citizen. The report suggested that a suspicious package had been spotted on the beach near a hotel in Puerto Morelos. The Navy, in collaboration with the Secretary of Public Security of Puerto Morelos, was able to locate and secure the package.

The package was found concealed among the sargasso, a few meters from the beach and close to the hotel's sun loungers and umbrellas. It appears that the hotel's guests were the first to discover the package and quickly alerted the hotel management. The management then promptly contacted the relevant authorities.

The package, wrapped in plastic and weighing around 450 grams, has been handed over to the General Attorney's Office in Cancun, Quintana Roo. It will be included in an ongoing investigation to determine its origin and intended recipient.
