The inauguration of the Chetumal station of the Mayan Train marked the final public act of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's term. The event was attended by the President-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and the Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa.

López Obrador noted that the 1,554-kilometer Mayan Train project was financed with 500 billion pesos from the public treasury, made possible by a government that did not allow tax condonation or corruption and maintained austerity. He pointed out that the tax collection for 2024 is projected to be close to 5 trillion pesos, a significant increase from 3 trillion in 2018 and 4 trillion 517 billion pesos in 2023.

The outgoing president, who referred to the governor of Quintana Roo as his "favorite governor", thanked all federal government officials for their support during his six-year term. He announced, "Our task here is practically concluded and in a few more hours I will pass the baton to President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum, who is making history as the first woman to hold this office."

President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted the significance of the Mayan Train. Despite the discredit campaign, she said the project symbolizes the largest ecological reserve after the Amazon, the most ambitious archaeological site rescue in history, and the recognition of ancient and current Mayans as the guardians of the southeast.

Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa viewed the Mayan Train as a beacon of hope for thousands of people. She said the inauguration of the Chetumal Station completes the circuit of the Train of Social Justice. She also mentioned several infrastructure projects initiated by the federal government that are transforming Quintana Roo and settling historical and social debts.

As Sheinbaum Pardo's presidential term begins, Lezama Espinosa emphasized that the legacy of the Fourth Transformation will continue on solid, strong, and unbreakable foundations. "The Mexican people are ready to begin the second stage of the fourth transformation of public life in Mexico. Long live President Andrés Manuel López Obrador," Mara Lezama declared.
