“Breaking News: Claudia Sheinbaum’s Alliance with Mexico’s President Revealed!”

Mexico's president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, recently posted a photograph on her social media platforms showing her with current President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the National Palace. "This photo with President López Obrador is from a few years ago. We are part of the same transformation project," Sheinbaum captioned the image.

In the photograph, López Obrador is seen in a suit and blue tie, acknowledging the crowd in Mexico City's Zócalo square. Sheinbaum, meanwhile, is seen smiling and gesturing a greeting. The photo's release comes amid public debate about whether Sheinbaum will back the legislative reforms proposed by the president, which were submitted to Congress in February.

Sheinbaum and López Obrador are set to meet on Monday, once Sheinbaum receives her certificate confirming her election as president. "We will formally meet, discuss the transition, and she may decide to share the details of our discussion, either here at the National Palace, at her campaign headquarters, or via video," the president said at a recent morning conference.

López Obrador has promised to provide "good accounts" to the Mexican people and to Sheinbaum, particularly concerning the Maya Train project and other initiatives in the southeast. However, he also emphasized that "justice is above markets" when asked about the market's reaction to the proposed reforms.

The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) saw a 1.27% drop last week, and the US dollar is currently valued at 18.41 Mexican pesos, a continued depreciation since Sheinbaum's electoral victory on June 3.

Sheinbaum has expressed a preference for open dialogue on the reforms. This comes after Morena party leaders in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate initially proposed that the 20 initiatives be approved in September, a month before Sheinbaum's inauguration. Despite later promises of dialogue, the president's recent comments have renewed uncertainty.

Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the coordinator of Sheinbaum's transition team, has stated that they are aiming for a transition "without break or submission". He declined to comment definitively on the proposed reforms, known as Plan C, as the transition process has not formally begun.
