In less than two weeks, Mexico's President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will officially open the Jaguar Park in Tulum. This news comes from Román Meyer Falcón, the Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu). Falcón recently conducted a supervision tour of the park facilities on Saturday, August 17. He revealed that the project is 96 percent complete, with the final touches currently being added to the Mayan Culture Museum, which will be run by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
Falcón stated, "Today, the National Jaguar Park is 96 percent complete. We are in the final stages of reviewing the fine details, finishes, and installations. We have already coordinated with our colleagues from INAH, who will be conducting an inspection next week. This means we are no more than 12 days away from the official opening with the President and his cabinet. We hope that this museum and the National Jaguar Park will be the highlights of the Maya Train tour."
In addition to the Jaguar Park, Sedatu has also been working on other projects in Quintana Roo, including the Nicolás Bravo market. This project has been completed and will be handed over next week or by the end of August, with the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, in attendance.
Falcón also mentioned the new fairgrounds in Chetumal, which are 95 percent complete. While some finishing touches are still needed in the main sand area, the exterior part is already finished.
The Jaguar Park project, the fairgrounds, and the Nicolás Bravo market represent a total investment of more than 2.8 billion pesos.
