Microsoft Glitch Sparks Chaos at Cancún Airport

Governor Mara Lezama has revealed that a global issue with Microsoft's operating system, instigated by the cybersecurity tool CrowdStrike, has impacted several airlines in Cancún. She confirmed that, to date, there have been 24 flight cancellations, comprising 11 arrivals and 13 departures. The affected airlines include Viva, United, Spirit, Sun Country, Aeroméxico, Delta, and Frontier.

As of 11 a.m., there were 99 delayed flights at Cancún's International Airport. These delays affected 51 arrivals and 48 departures from a range of airlines, including Viva, Volaris, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Aeroméxico, Frontier, Southwest, Sun Country, American Airlines, Air Canada, and Thomson.

Lezama emphasized that not all of these delays can be directly linked to the Microsoft failure. She urged passengers to stay updated through official channels. She also reassured the public that the systems at Cancún's International Airport are not impacted by this issue.

As of now, the airports in Tulum, Chetumal, and Cozumel have not reported any disruptions due to this incident.
