Johana Acosta, the president of the Morena party in Quintana Roo, has publicly denounced the disruptive behavior of Councilor José Luis Toledo Medina. The incident occurred during the Second Citizen Forum, an event organized to discuss the potential renaming of the municipality of Solidaridad.
The forum, held at the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río park in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood, was intended to be a platform for open dialogue and citizen participation. However, Acosta reports that this atmosphere was spoiled by the councilor's actions, which led to confrontation and chaos.
Acosta expressed her disappointment with Toledo Medina's behavior, stating that it was unacceptable for a representative to resort to aggression and misinformation in an attempt to derail the event. She emphasized, "What happened is a clear indication of the lack of respect for democratic exercise and citizens seeking to be heard."
In her statement, Acosta also expressed her full support for the municipal president, Estefanía Mercado, commending her for maintaining a calm and respectful demeanor in the face of provocation.
Acosta concluded her statement by reaffirming the Morena party's commitment to supporting municipal governments in their efforts to maintain peace, respect, and active citizen participation. She emphasized the party's stance against allowing violence, chaos, and threats from those seeking confrontation to prevail.
