Moroccan investors are ramping up their investments in the hotel industry in Tulum and Cancún. The recent surge in tourism in these destinations has caught the attention of international investors, including those from Morocco.
Abdelfattah Lebbar, the Moroccan Ambassador to Mexico, noted that Tulum and Cancún have become global tourism hotspots, making them attractive for foreign investment. In response to the rising tourist demand, Moroccan investors have chosen to construct hotel complexes in these regions.
In Tulum, five hotels funded by Moroccan capital are already in operation, with another set to open soon. These hotels are distinctive for their incorporation of Moroccan architectural and cultural elements, offering a unique experience for visitors.
The mutual investment interest between Mexico and Morocco extends beyond the tourism industry. For instance, a Mexican firm recently acquired a Moroccan cement company.
Ambassador Lebbar also highlighted potential cooperation in security between the two nations, acknowledging shared border challenges related to illicit trafficking.
