A motorcyclist tragically lost his life on Thursday night on Playa del Carmen Boulevard after a collision with a taxi. The taxi, part of the "Lázaro Cárdenas del Río" taxi union, struck the motorcyclist near the Tres Ríos park.

The motorcyclist, riding a white Italika Modena 125cc scooter, was thrown several meters onto the asphalt. The taxi driver allegedly tried to overtake him on the right lane, leading to the fatal crash.

Shortly after the incident, officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Municipal Traffic arrived at the scene. They promptly called for an ambulance. However, upon arrival, paramedics confirmed that the motorcyclist had already died from his injuries.

The State Attorney's Office (FGE) staff were also dispatched to the scene. They carried out necessary procedures before arranging for the removal and transportation of the victim's body.

The taxi driver involved in the incident was arrested at the scene. He is now in custody, awaiting a determination of his legal status.
