Motorcyclist’s Horrific Crash with Truck in Playa del Carmen

A damaged motorcycle lies on the ground beside a truck, with people and a police officer assessing the situation.

A motorcyclist sustained severe injuries to his left leg following a high-speed collision with a cargo truck on Friday morning in Playa del Carmen. The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Bystanders immediately dialed 911 to request an ambulance for the motorcyclist, who had crashed into a light delivery truck at the intersection of 6th Street and Avenue 115.

Municipal Police were the first to arrive at the scene. They found the motorcyclist seriously injured on the pavement, with visible fractures to his tibia, fibula, and possibly his kneecap. His foot was almost completely detached from the rest of his leg.

Paramedics from a private company were able to control the bleeding with a tourniquet. They then transported him to a nearby hospital in an effort to save his leg from potential amputation.

Preliminary reports suggest that the motorcyclist had the right of way on Avenue 115. However, when he reached 6th Street, the truck failed to stop and obstructed the motorcyclist's path. Unable to brake in time, the motorcyclist apparently skidded to avoid a more severe collision with the light cargo vehicle.

Traffic Police also attended the scene to conduct an investigation and determine who was at fault. It is currently unclear whether the truck driver has been arrested.
