Landowners are anticipating a response to their demands this Wednesday.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has concluded his health tour in Quintana Roo and Campeche.
Landowners from XYatil, backed by their counterparts from the Dzula community, have once again blocked the federal highway 184 Muna-Felipe Carrillo Puerto. This comes as they await a response from state government authorities and relevant departments like the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communication and Transport.
As reported on Monday morning, the XYatil landowners blocked highway 184 near the town of San Luis. This action was taken to pressure authorities into agreeing on compensation for the lands, approximately 25.5 hectares, affected by the installation of the electrical grid that will power the Maya Train.
On that day, representatives from the State Government and the Agrarian Procurator's Office met with the landowners. A commitment was made that there would be a concrete response by the following Wednesday, which would allow the blockade to be lifted.
Consequently, the XYatil landowners resumed their blockade early this morning as they await the promised response. Landowners from the farming community of Dzula have also joined the movement. They too are demanding payment for the impact on their lands caused by the electrical grid works that crossed part of their agricultural area.
