Mysterious Alux Sighting at Maya Train Station Sparks Speculation

A video showing a small, dark figure crossing a bridge has sparked speculation on social media. The figure, which some describe as a black cassock or a floating entity, is thought by some to be an Alux, a creature from Mayan mythology. The video was posted on YouTube by the creators of the Extra Anormal and Paranormal Podcast and has since been widely shared on platforms like TikTok.

The footage was reportedly captured around 2:00 in the morning at a Maya Train station, supposedly in Quintana Roo. The figure appears to be short, with hair, and moves in an unusual way. The worker who recorded the video, who wished to remain anonymous, mentioned hearing rumors among his colleagues about the presence of this Alux or shadowy figure at the station. The station's location wasn't specified, but the images suggest it could be the 5 South stretch in Playa del Carmen.

The creators of the aforementioned podcasts, Paco Arías and Fepo, suggested that the figure could be an Alux or some kind of ghostly entity. However, others have proposed that the figure could be a local animal, such as a coati or a spider monkey, which could explain the figure's "hunchbacked" appearance and dark color.

The worker also mentioned that he and his colleagues have heard strange noises and seen small shadows in their work area, which some have suggested could be attributed to possums.

Interest in the Aluxes is nothing new. On February 25, 2023, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador shared a photograph of what he claimed was an Alux near the Maya Train works, describing the image as "mystic". Despite appearing to be edited, such posts help to keep local beliefs and the fascination with these mythological beings alive in Quintana Roo.

This fascination was reinforced following a series of accidents in 2022, which were attributed to the removal of a small house on the bridge to Cancun airport. Tradition suggests that large constructions need the approval of these spirits to avoid setbacks. The relocation of the small house on July 3 was met with criticism due to perceived disrespect for local customs.
