Social media has erupted in outrage following the release of a video showing members of the National Guard forcibly entering a home in Cancún's Supermanzana 75, near Prolongación Tulum Avenue. The footage shows officers subduing a man at gunpoint who had just entered his home. The man was reportedly not in possession of any illegal items.
According to eyewitness accounts, the officers initially tried to stop the man on the street for a routine check. When they were unable to do so, they decided to enter his home without permission. The situation escalated when a woman in the house was allegedly assaulted by the officers. This led to a severe nervous breakdown, requiring her to be urgently taken to a nearby clinic.
The incident caused a stir among the local community, with alarmed neighbors rushing out of their homes due to the commotion. Following the alleged assault, members of the Navy arrived to support the National Guard, seemingly in an attempt to downplay the incident.
Despite this, media personnel in the area were able to document the events through photos and videos. One of the officers involved, from patrol GN731308, defended his actions by claiming that the man had exited a sales point, placed something in his mouth, and ran into his house upon noticing the police presence.
However, a video taken by witnesses contradicts this claim, showing the officers arguing with another individual while taking pictures with their cellphones. This incident has raised serious concerns about the National Guard's excessive use of force and their conduct during operations without legal justification. An investigation into the incident is expected to be launched by the relevant authorities.
