The Mexican Navy, part of the Secretariat of the Navy, announced that they assisted in the rescue and location of an individual near Cozumel, Quintana Roo. This action was taken in response to a report from Cozumel's Public Safety department. The report indicated that an individual exhibiting suspicious behavior attempted to flee into the sea when approached for inspection.

In order to protect human life at sea, a Defender type vessel from the Naval Station of Search, Rescue, and Maritime Surveillance (ENSAR) Cozumel was dispatched to aid in the search and rescue of the individual.

The Defender vessel successfully rescued the individual, a 43-year-old Mexican male, near a dolphin complex. He was found to be in good health. After the rescue, he was transported to the facilities of the Fifteenth Naval Zone and then handed over to officers from the Secretariat of Public Safety and Municipal Traffic of Cozumel for further procedures.
