In an effort to enhance security in the tourist area, a new law enforcement group known as the Executive Police has been launched. This specialized force, which initially consists of 22 members but is projected to grow to 100 agents, is funded by the private sector, notably the hotel industry, and operates under the coordination of the local municipality.

Diego Castañón, the municipal president, underscored the significance of this new initiative as a part of the Tulum Shield plan. He stated that it represents a collaborative effort between the government and local business owners to ensure safety for both tourists and residents. The newly formed Executive Police have passed rigorous control and trust tests and have undergone tactical police training at the State Police Academy of Quintana Roo. They will continue to receive training in tourist service and security operations in the coming weeks.

The municipal authority, led by Captain José Roberto Rodríguez Bautista, will oversee the operations of this security force. Commander Castro Reynaga has been appointed as the director of the Executive Police and will be responsible for deploying officers at various strategic points within the hotel zone. The operation of the Executive Police is facilitated by a formal agreement between the private sector and the municipality, whereby the hotel owners will cover the cost of the officers assigned to their properties.

In addition to the formation of the Executive Police, the city council has announced the installation of 600 video surveillance cameras. These will be linked to the local Control, Command, Computing and Communication Center (C4) and the state's C5. Furthermore, hotels and businesses will be required to install video surveillance systems connected to these centers as a prerequisite for obtaining their operating licenses.

The city government expressed gratitude for the support of Governor Mara Lezama and the cooperation of all three levels of government, including the National Guard, the Navy, the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), and the State Attorney General's Office. Through the establishment of the Executive Police and the introduction of new technologies, Tulum aims to further secure its reputation as a safe destination for tourists, while also prioritizing the peace of mind of its residents.
