A New Gateway to Cancún
In a joint public-private initiative, the State Agency for Strategic Projects (Agepro) is developing a new entryway into Cancún, extending from the Moon Palace overpass to Prolongación Huayacán. The agency's director, Jose Alberto Alonso Ovando, confirmed that substantial progress has been made on the project.

Interagency Collaboration
The project is currently in the executive design phase, a collaborative effort involving the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) and the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT). These agencies are securing rights of way and developing the executive project in partnership with the Secretary of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus). Ovando noted, “Sedena is nearing completion of the Maya Train bridge at the Cancún terminal, allowing us to focus on this new project.”

Improving Cancún's Roadways
Another significant project is the extension of Chacmool, which will connect to the Colosio boulevard. Requests are in place for several overpasses at strategic locations, including in front of the Honda dealership in Residencial Campestre and along Chacmool avenue. Plans also include an extension of Prolongación Huayacán towards Fonatur via an agreed expropriation process with landowners, and a further extension of Huayacán to the former Miami Herald facilities on Colosio.

New Developments in Quintana Roo
Agepro is also advocating for the construction of overpasses on Highway 307, particularly in Puerto Morelos, where two are planned: one at Bahía Petempich and another at Crococun. Funding for these projects is currently being secured. Additionally, Agepro is promoting a 400-hectare area near Bacalar for solar energy investment, aiming to boost the development of clean energy in the southern part of the state. In Tulum, work is ongoing to construct new roads to improve vehicle flow.

Context of Federal Transition
Ovando emphasized that these projects are being pursued amidst a political transition with the incoming federal government, which will introduce new priorities and policies. Agepro's goal is to position Quintana Roo to secure the necessary resources under Governor Mara Lezama's leadership for continued infrastructure development.
