The Solidaridad City Council has identified a pressing need for a new clinic under the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Puerto Aventuras. This need has arisen due to the area's population growth. The council had previously arranged for the donation of land for the clinic's construction, but the federal government has not yet responded to this provision.
In the absence of a response, the donated lands would typically revert back to the municipality. However, during the Seventy-first Ordinary Session of the Solidaridad City Council, the council requested an extension. They noted that the IMSS is due to hold a Technical Council session in the coming days, which could potentially provide the necessary resources for the clinic's construction.
With this extension, the department would have two years to complete the work. If the clinic is not built within this timeframe, the lands would be reincorporated into the municipality's assets. The council emphasized the importance of having a longer period to carry out the construction.
Javier Nahuat, an engineer from the IMSS construction department, confirmed that the two-year timeframe would not be an issue. He stated that they were requesting two years from the present date to continue with the procedures of the resources assigned to the medical units.
The mayor of Puerto Aventuras, Gilberto Gómez, stressed the importance of providing a location for the clinic's construction. He noted that there are approximately 20 Social Security affiliates in the area, which underscores the need for this facility. The council is committed to addressing this requirement for the benefit of local workers.
