A new strategy has been launched in Playa del Carmen with the goal of making it easier for businesses to open and thrive. This initiative, spearheaded by the president of the National Chamber of Commerce in Playa del Carmen, seeks to cut red tape in the city.
The plan includes the removal of over 700 bureaucratic procedures, including 500 state-level and 200 municipal ones. These processes are currently seen as obstacles to entrepreneurship in the area.
The strategy also proposes digitizing these procedures, creating single points of contact for businesses, and setting firm deadlines for application resolutions. These changes aim to make the business environment in Playa del Carmen more efficient and accessible.
Furthermore, the plan includes the regularization of informal trade in areas such as Quinta Avenida and Avenida Juárez. These are areas where street vendors currently operate without permits.
The overall goal of this initiative is to prevent the stagnation of economic growth in Playa del Carmen and to create a more agile business environment.
