Get ready for heavy rain and flooding in Yucatan and Campeche

Satellite weather map showing storm systems with areas of precipitation over the Yucatan Peninsula and surrounding regions. Areas with intense weather activity are highlighted in colors ranging from blue to red corresponding to the intensity of precipitation.

A new tropical wave, combined with a mid-troposphere vortex and the "Mayan Trough", is set to bring increased rainfall across the region today. Weather forecasts predict heavy, scattered showers (50 to 75 mm) in central, western, and southern Yucatan, northern, central, southern, and southwestern Campeche, and central, eastern, and southern Tabasco.

Moderate, scattered rainfall (5 to 25 mm) is also expected in northern, central, and southern Quintana Roo. With these conditions, there is a continued risk of both urban and rural flooding. Residents are advised to stay alert to any warnings issued by local authorities.

Temperatures are expected to range from 30 °C to 36 °C across the region. Winds are predicted to come from the east-southeast at speeds of 10 to 40 km/h, with potential gusts exceeding 50 km/h, particularly in storm-affected areas.
