Authorities are currently seeking the driver of a black Jetta involved in two separate incidents in Puerto Aventuras. The driver is suspected of causing a hit-and-run accident involving a motorcyclist, and later overturning their vehicle on the Puerto Aventuras bridge.

Yesterday morning, reports emerged of a vehicle overturned on the Puerto Aventuras bridge. Hours later, it was revealed that the same vehicle was likely involved in another incident in Puerto Aventuras, where a motorcyclist was hit and dragged several meters before being left on the road.

In an attempt to evade the scene, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while merging onto the Federal Highway and subsequently crashed off the bridge. The driver then abandoned the vehicle upon noticing patrol cars nearby, leaving behind a seriously injured motorcyclist and a license plate from the neighboring state of Yucatán, number YYT-930-C, which matches the one on the black Jetta Sport. The vehicle was also found to be missing parts of its front bumper.

Thankfully, several witnesses were able to photograph the individual. These images were initially intended to locate the driver for the purpose of holding them accountable for property damage. However, the situation has escalated as the family of the motorcyclist, who is currently fighting for their life, has filed a complaint for possible premeditated attempted murder.

The FGE will now conduct inquiries to locate the driver and hold them accountable for both incidents.
