Deadly Organized Crime Shooting at Cancún’s RIU Palace Hotel.

A luxurious beachfront resort with white buildings, palm trees, a large swimming pool, and sandy beaches against a clear blue sky.

A man with alleged ties to organized crime was shot and killed by armed assailants at the RIU Palace Las Americas Hotel in Cancún, Quintana Roo. The hotel is located at kilometer 8.5 on the Kukulcán boulevard in Cancún's hotel zone. The attackers, dressed in black and wearing orange life jackets, reportedly fled on a jet ski through the Mexican Caribbean Sea after firing their weapons four times.

The victim, who was visiting the hotel's pool area, was reported to be a suspected drug dealer. RIU Hotels has confirmed that the man was not a guest at the hotel, and they are cooperating fully with local authorities to investigate the incident.

Despite the efforts of hotel staff to provide medical assistance, the man died before medical units could arrive. His body was later removed and transported by the Forensic Medical Service. Several high-ranking officials, including the Attorney General Raciel López Salazar, representatives from the Navy Secretary, Secretary of National Defense, National Guard, and Tourist Police, arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation.

Local authorities have confirmed that no hotel guests or staff were injured during the incident.

The State Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo has linked this incident to the murder of a minor on July 28th of this year, which also took place in the same tourist area. The victim in this recent incident was reportedly involved in the July 28th attack, where he and others on a jet ski opened fire on a group of people, resulting in the death of a minor. The dispute was allegedly over drug sales. The state prosecution believes that two other individuals involved in the July 28th attack were also involved in an assault on a truck on Kukulcán boulevard on July 1st, which resulted in two fatalities.
