In Motul, Yucatan, a shocking incident of animal cruelty has left the community outraged. A dog named Lía was scalded with boiling water by a local resident. Despite the identification of the perpetrator, no arrests have been made yet, leading to a public outcry for justice.

Lía was innocently resting under a tree outside a house when she was attacked without provocation. The assailant threw boiling water over her, causing severe skin and fur injuries. Despite the extent of her injuries, Lía was promptly given veterinary care to treat her burns.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation in Motul, with residents banding together to call out the abuse and demand immediate action from the authorities.

The Happy Furry collective, an animal rights group, has already filed an official complaint with the State Attorney General's Office of Yucatan. The complaint aims to ensure that the perpetrator, who reportedly has a history of animal abuse, faces appropriate punishment.

In Yucatan, the 'Rufo Law' imposes strict penalties on those who commit acts of violence or abuse against animals. Violators can face up to 10 years in prison, highlighting the seriousness of the crime and the importance of animal protection. The Motul community, along with animal rights advocates, are urging the authorities to act swiftly to apprehend the culprit and enforce the necessary penalties.
