On Wednesday morning, a combined operation of federal and state forces seized over 100 kilograms of both natural and synthetic drugs. The operation took place in a residence located in the municipality of Kanasín, Yucatan, as confirmed by the State Public Security Secretariat (SSP).

The confiscated substances included 98 kilograms of marijuana, 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.9 kilograms of cocaine, and 3.2 kilograms of 'rock'. The SSP has not yet reported any arrests in connection with the seizure, but investigations are ongoing. This operation, which was a joint effort between the National Guard, the Mexican Army, the State Investigation Police (PEI), the SSP, and the State Attorney General's Office, demonstrates the ongoing commitment to tackling criminal activity in the region.

Kanasín, currently under the governance of PAN mayor Edwin Bojórquez, has been previously implicated in drug dealing cases. Some officials from his administration were investigated three years ago for alleged involvement in drug-related crimes, keeping the focus on security within the municipality. Further details on the investigation or potential criminal links to the seized drugs have not yet been provided by the authorities.
