The civil association Verdad Memoria y Justicia has reported a total of 116 active missing person cases in its three and a half years of operation. During this time, 36 individuals have been located. The organization, primarily composed of relatives of the missing, conducts searches in Cancun, Paya del Carmen, Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Chetumal.

Currently, the collective's active cases amount to 116, including two Colombians and one Honduran. Cancun has the highest number of search records, with 52 victims, followed by Chetumal with 34, Felipe Carrillo Puerto with 24, and Playa del Carmen and Tulum with 18 each.

The number of missing persons has significantly increased in the region, particularly in the southern area of Q Roo. The majority of the victims are men.

During the collective's existence, nine people have been found alive and returned to their homes, while 27 have been found deceased. The organization works closely with authorities during these search operations.

There are also over 800 unidentified bodies in the forensic park and the Semefo. These bodies, often found as fragments or bone remains, are not identified or studied to obtain a genetic profile. This information could potentially help identify them and allow them to return to their families.

The organization's president, Romana Rivera Ramírez, has made several requests to state and federal authorities to prioritize the issue of missing persons. She also emphasized the need for strengthening and professionalizing institutions that provide support to the relatives of missing persons.

While there have been some achievements, such as the hiring of experts and the use of drones and dogs in searches, Rivera Ramírez believes there is still much more that needs to be done to address this issue.

The organization marked Forced Disappearance Day with a march, which began at the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and ended at the Municipal Palace square.
