In a first for Cancún, all students from special education, preschool, primary, and secondary schools will receive a free pair of sneakers. This initiative will benefit students from the 429 public schools in the city, totaling 122,525 pairs of sneakers.

The initiative was announced by the Municipal President of Benito Juárez, Ana Paty Peralta, during the launch of the "Steps for Transformation" program. The event took place at "La Corregidora" primary school in Supermanzana 228.

Peralta emphasized that each step the students take with these sneakers should be a step towards their happiness, welfare, and education. She expressed her hope to see the students grow in a healthy environment and take full advantage of their education.

Over 32 million pesos have been invested in this initiative. Peralta pointed out that the average cost of a pair of school sneakers is 500 pesos, so this program represents significant savings for Cancún families, especially those with more than one child.

Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of the Quintana Roo DIF System, echoed Peralta's sentiments. She expressed her hope that children could study, play, and grow with equal opportunities. Espinosa emphasized the importance of society and government working together for a better future.

Berenice Sosa Osorio, head of the Municipal Secretariat of Social and Economic Development, highlighted the significant work that will be carried out to distribute the footwear. She predicted a historic delivery.

At the event, 445 pairs of sneakers were personally handed out to students at the school. The students also enjoyed a refurbished court and dome built by the municipal government for their physical activities.

The distribution of the sneakers will take place from September 9 to 27 at all public schools. The delivery process will be coordinated by different departments assigned to each educational institution. This approach aims to ensure an efficient and orderly distribution, allowing students to wear their new shoes for the school year.

Also present at the event were several key figures, including the Municipal Trustee, Miguel Zenteno Cortés, and the Undersecretary of Education Attention in the North Zone, Miguel Ángel Medina Cortázar. The director of the hosting primary school, Zeidy José Lara Huchim, also attended.
