Cozumel’s coach sector operates under protection

With the year coming to an end, the carriage sector in Cozumel reported that they are still operating under the protection that allows the use of horse-drawn carriages in tourist areas.

The park is a popular destination for horse-drawn carriage tours, an attraction that operates under specific regulations to ensure the protection of the horses. These tours are primarily concentrated in the tourist areas, including the promenade and dock area.

There are ongoing efforts to reassign spaces on the promenade and dock area to better accommodate these tours. The cost of a carriage tour is approximately 100 dollars, or close to 2,000 pesos.

In a bid to modernize and further ensure animal welfare, the construction of an electric carriage has been announced. This initiative is part of the state government’s commitment to complying with the Animal Welfare Law.
