80+ Women Freed in Playa del Carmen Trafficking Bust

This year, over 80 women have been rescued from human trafficking operations in the Riviera Maya. The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reports that a single criminal organization is responsible for these illegal operations, primarily focusing on sexual exploitation, across various locations within the state.

There have been at least four rescue operations in the Riviera Maya this year, targeting centers of sexual exploitation. These operations have successfully freed over 80 women. Victim testimonies and information from the defendants have been crucial in shedding light on these cases of sexual exploitation.

In a recent operation conducted on August 2, 18 women of Colombian, Argentine, and Mexican nationality were rescued. They were victims of human trafficking for prostitution in a bar in Playa del Carmen. Two men, who were managing the women's sexual exploitation, were apprehended.

The combined efforts of local authorities and international cooperation have been instrumental in these successful rescues, marking significant progress in the fight against human trafficking in the region.
