The nationwide 'Boxing for Peace' class in Quintana Roo saw over 8,000 participants, led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa. She urged Quintana Roo residents to view each punch as a strike against violence and each dodge as a move away from harmful behaviors. The event took place at the “Toro” Valenzuela Sports Center in Cancun and was held simultaneously across all municipalities in Quintana Roo.

Governor Lezama, alongside Benito Juárez Mayor Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, highlighted the transformative power of sports. "Peace isn't just about pursuing criminals," she said. "It's about upholding values, strengthening families, rebuilding the social fabric, reclaiming public spaces, promoting sports and culture, addressing the roots of violence, and fostering community."

As the first female governor of Quintana Roo, Lezama leads a humanist government with a feminist heart, working in close collaboration with the Mexican government. She acknowledged the president's vision and supported his call to promote peace through sports.

The 'Boxing for Peace' class attracted a diverse crowd of participants, including children, teenagers, adults, and seniors. Families enjoyed the event together, learning defense techniques and having fun. In Cancun, participants, including students from various educational levels, performed warm-up exercises led by Rudy López, The Mayan Warrior.

Notable participants included boxers Joselito "The Hurricane" Velázquez Altamirano, Célex Castro Olivares, Yesenia Guadalupe "La Niña" Gómez Vázquez, Wilberth "El Huracán" Uicab, and trainers Adrián "Cubanito" Núñez, Oswaldo Carrasco, Celestino Castro, and Nilda Carrillo.

Governor Lezama emphasized the importance of unity in the fight for peace and against addictions. "Today, thousands of Quintana Roo residents join this initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle," she said.

She also noted the event's role in fostering community, building peace, and creating a healthier, safer, and more united Mexico. The event was marked by a significant number of young people taking up boxing, reflecting Quintana Roo's reputation as a breeding ground for champions. Other dignitaries at the event included Jacobo Adrián Arzate Hop, president of the Quintana Roo Sports Commission; Alejandro Luna López, director of the Benito Juárez Municipal Sports Institute; Eric Arcila Arjona, local deputy, and Eugenio Segura, senator for Quintana Roo.
