Three local developers and one from Playa del Carmen are set to receive the Golden Drop award for incorporating the Individual Wastewater Treatment System (SITAR) into their real estate projects. The award, given by DLD14 Proyectos, the provider of these systems, recognizes companies that have made significant strides in groundwater conservation and environmental protection.
The award ceremony will take place tomorrow, November 27, at 10 am at the Coparmex Mérida facilities. Executives and representatives from DLD14 Proyectos will preside over the event, which will also host guests from the construction industry.
Hilda Margarita del Villar Espinosa, the head of marketing for DLD14 Proyectos, explained in an interview that SITAR marks a significant step forward in the management and treatment of domestic wastewater. It offers a more efficient and modern alternative to traditional septic tanks by treating wastewater for final disposal using a biological process, rather than simply breaking up the waters.
The issue of wastewater disposal in Yucatán is a pressing one due to the lack of a drainage system and the traditional reliance on septic tanks, which do not fully address the problem. Real estate developers are now required to implement innovative technology for the management and final disposal of wastewater and waste generated in homes. The Individual Wastewater Treatment System from DLD14 Desarrollos is a practical solution with multiple advantages.
The SITAR system consists of two modules that treat water in four stages. It uses Biodld, a primarily anaerobic inoculum, which is produced in specialized bioreactors for optimal performance in treating domestic wastewater. Biodld requires continuous wastewater discharges for its operation, which serves as its main source of food. The system, which is hidden underground, occupies a space no larger than two meters long by 83 cm wide and a depth of two meters. It has a capacity of up to 1,300 liters.
