The PGA TOUR has officially added the Tulum Championship to the prestigious Korn Ferry Tour calendar, marking a major milestone for Tulum as a world-class golf destination. The tournament will take place May 1–4, 2025 at PGA Riviera Maya, located within the Tulum Country Club—home to the only PGA-certified course in Mexico.

The announcement further strengthens Tulum’s growing identity as a luxury destination where golf, wellness, and nature are key pillars of its tourism appeal.

The PGA Riviera Maya course was recently named “Best Golf Course in Mexico” at the 2024 World Golf Awards and has been nominated once again for 2025. The award recognizes excellence in course design, playing conditions, and overall player experience.

The venue has already hosted high-profile tournaments, including the Bupa Championship Final and the opening event of the PGA Tour Americas in 2024, solidifying its reputation for hosting world-class golf events.

Alex Baldwin, President of the Korn Ferry Tour, underscored the importance of the venue: “We are excited to welcome PGA Riviera Maya to the Korn Ferry Tour family. Its quality and hospitality have been widely praised by our players, and we are confident this tournament will be an exceptional test for the top emerging talent in global golf.”

Sergio González, Golf Director at PGA Riviera Maya, emphasized the broader significance of the event: “Hosting a tournament of this magnitude is a recognition of the level of our venue and reinforces our commitment to continue promoting golf in Mexico. This event will not only attract players and fans, but also solidify Tulum as a leader in sports tourism.”

Beyond the course, the timing of the tournament aligns with increased regional connectivity. The recent opening of Tulum International Airport and continued development of the Maya Train are enhancing access and drawing attention from global travelers and investors, positioning Tulum as a hub for premium tourism and real estate development.

As part of the Tulum Championship experience, a Pro-Am tournament will also be held, offering amateur golfers a rare opportunity to play alongside professionals from the Korn Ferry Tour.

With top-tier facilities, global visibility, and strong community support, the Tulum Championship is set to become a landmark event in the Mexican golf calendar—and a catalyst for Tulum’s continued rise as a luxury destination rooted in sport, sustainability, and world-class hospitality.
