As Holy Week approaches, it's important to be aware of the key dates:

Holy Week is a highly anticipated time for vacationers in Mexico, as well as for tourism service providers across Quintana Roo. It's a period when many people choose to escape their daily routines and explore the stunning sights of Mexico. Popular destinations include Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, and many other beautiful locations within Quintana Roo.

In 2025, Holy Week begins on April 13, Palm Sunday, and continues until April 20, Easter Sunday. For the holiday period, students at the basic level will have a two-week vacation, starting on Monday, April 14, and ending on Friday, April 25. This means they will return to school on Monday, April 28.

Holy Week, also known as Major Week, is the most revered week in the Christian liturgical calendar. It commemorates the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The dates for Holy Week are not fixed. The first Christians, who were also Jewish, celebrated Easter on the same day as the Jewish holiday. However, the Council of Nicea in 325 AD altered both Easters. Christian Easter now takes place after the first full moon following the spring equinox (in the northern hemisphere), which means it's typically celebrated between March 22 and April 25.
