Playa del Carmen Carnival 2025 Crowns Kings and Queens

On February 24, 2025, Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, was alive with music, color, and festivity. Thousands of spectators filled Plaza 28 de Julio to witness the election of the 2025 Playa del Carmen Carnival Kings and Queens. The categories included sovereign, youth, and children.

After a lively parade where the candidates showcased their rhythm, energy, and talent, winners were announced in each category. Metzli Monterroza and Joel González took the sovereign title. Juan Pablo Hernández and Lía Hernández won in the youth category, while Danitza Vidales and Gabriel Sánchez were recognized in the children's category.

The newly elected kings and queens will be crowned on Wednesday, February 26, marking the official start of the carnival festivities in Playa del Carmen.

The judging panel, composed of renowned figures from the artistic world, including Cirque du Soleil artists Caitlan Maggs, Nicole Lamontagne, and Miguel Rodríguez, evaluated the candidates based on choreography, creativity, body expression, originality, attitude, costume, popularity, rhythm, and charm.

The Mexico-Cuban performer Flavia Kramelo closed the election event. In total, over 600 people and 13 musicians took to the stage in Plaza 28 de Julio's amphitheater.

The Playa del Carmen Carnival 2025 will feature free performances by internationally acclaimed artists. Jesse & Joy will perform on February 27, followed by El Bogueto on the 28th. On March 1, recent Grammy winner Rawayana will take the stage, followed by Bomba Estéreo on the 2nd. Nicki Nicole will close out the grand celebration on March 4, promising to entertain both locals and tourists with energy and tradition.
