The governor further explained that the project includes the rehabilitation of the tourist area, the introduction of new urban imagery with signage, urban furniture, and digital totems, and the provision of free Wi-Fi on 5th Avenue. The Let's Playa App and five new tourist routes are also part of the plan, aimed at boosting the local economy and focusing on destinations like Uxuxubi and rural communities such as Santa Cecilia.
Municipal President Estefanía Mercado expressed her belief that the launch of the city brand will mark a significant turning point for Playa del Carmen. She announced the launch of five diverse routes: Fishing, Honey and Jungle, Consciousness, Art, and Cycling. These routes are designed to enhance the visitor experience and strengthen the local economy. The plan also includes training for over 3,000 service providers, including taxi drivers.
State Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, highlighted that this project signifies a new era for Playa del Carmen, which has already welcomed over 2 million visitors from January to August. The brand launch was attended by key figures including lawmaker Jorge Sanem Cervantes, president of the State Congress, and magistrate Heyden Cebada Rivas, president of the Supreme Court of Justice. Municipal presidents from Benito Juárez, José María Morelos, Puerto Morelos, and Tulum were also present.
