The recent success of the Regional Motocross Championship in Playa del Carmen has led to calls for the sport to be included in the area's tourism promotion strategy. The event, held at the José Quiam Chan track, attracted over three thousand spectators and has been praised for its ability to bring families together.
The championship saw the participation of 135 riders from various categories. These competitors hailed from Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, and several municipalities of Quintana Roo, as well as local riders from Playa del Carmen. The event is quickly becoming a city tradition, often coinciding with other yearly festivities.
Several companies sponsored the event, demonstrating the local support for motocross. The event's promoter, Raúl Méndez Briseño, has urged local authorities to consider including motocross in their efforts to rebrand Playa del Carmen as a leading tourist destination.
