Playa del Carmen, a city renowned for its beauty, is taking significant steps towards ensuring the safety and security of its residents and visitors.
As of April 28, 2024, the city of Solidaridad, home to Playa del Carmen, has implemented security checkpoints at the North, South, and West entrances of the city. These checkpoints are equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance cameras and license plate recognition technology, which can identify and recover stolen vehicles or those with false plates.
In an effort to prevent the infiltration of firearms and illegal substances into the city, local law enforcement has enlisted the help of the K-9 Canine Unit. This specialized team conducts random searches on both private and public transportation vehicles.
In case of any roadside emergencies, residents and visitors are encouraged to dial 911 for immediate assistance. These enhanced security measures, including surveillance and assistance to drivers and transporters, are in operation 365 days a year, making Playa del Carmen a safer place for all.
