Mayor’s Absence Sparks Outcry in Playa del Carmen

A woman in a bright pink shirt is captured mid-conversation, with an out-of-focus person in the background and a palm tree visible behind them. The photo is slightly blurred, indicating motion or a candid moment captured on camera. The woman has hoop earrings and her hair pulled back. She appears to be engaged in a conversation, looking to the side with a neutral expression. There's another person in the background, partially visible and smiling. The setting suggests an informal outdoor gathering or event. The lighting is natural, and the day appears to be overcast.

The residents of Playa del Carmen, following in the footsteps of their neighbors in Puerto Aventuras, have voiced their dissatisfaction with the mayor of Solidaridad, Roxana Lili. The mayor has been notably absent since June 2nd, leaving her constituents feeling abandoned during critical times, such as in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.

The citizens of Solidaridad were eager for an opportunity to voice their concerns to Mayor Lili, but she never made herself available. She did not visit the affected neighborhoods or subdivisions, leaving the residents to clean up the streets and recover from the hurricane on their own.

The tourist hub is still struggling to recover from the impact of Hurricane Beryl. The residents needed their mayor's support, but she remained absent. Once again, the citizens were left to fend for themselves, helping each other clean up the streets and rebuild their community.

The residents' frustration was further fueled by a private event hosted by Mayor Lili. At this event, she awarded recognitions to her close associates, such as Raúl Tassinari, the Municipal Citizen Security secretary. These recognitions were given for supposed low crime levels in the region, a claim that starkly contrasts with the actual crime statistics.
